My journey in IT has taken many interesting turns. At this point in time, I view myself as a project oriented professional with a holistic understanding of software development. I hold a Certificate in Web Design and Web Development from UMass Lowell from 2017. I've supplemented my certificate over the years with courses with Lynda, Udemy, Free Code Camp, and CodeAcademy. In 2021, I acquired a certification in PRINCE2 Foundations, and in 2022, I acquired my ISTQB CTFL certification. Both support the position I currently hold at Substrakt Health as project development support.
I was hired by Bespoke in 2017, a marketing company/web shop based in Boston, MA. I worked there on a contractual basis over the next couple of years, creating logos and generated visual assets, tested websites and created reports for the lead developers, as well as built prototypes for websites for boutique hotels. After moving to the UK at the end of 2019, I had the opportunity to continue my journey as a front end developer with 5874, a small digital marketing agency based in Birmingham. The general chaos surrounding COVID-19 put an early end to my time with the company in the spring of 2020, but I've left the experience with hands-on experience in ecommerce, Agile development, version control, email building, Wordpress, Sass, and an exciting look into Birmingham's web design and development community.
At the end of 2020, I was hired by Substrakt Health part time as a health technology admin assistant before going full time as project development support with the company in 2021. It has been incredibly rewarding being able to help deliver software projects that benefit the NHS. The work I do with Substrakt Health is dynamic and multifaceted. The main theme is supporting PatientPack, our company's patient-facing app which allows citizens of the UK to manage their health needs through their GP and learn about local services more easily. Internally, I help plan sprints, assist in testing as needed, discuss requirements with our designer, contribute to documentation for NHSD assurance processes, and observe the discreet handling of patient data in accordance with up to date information governance guidance. I also communicate with our stakeholders, as well as any other parties necessary for the successful completion of projects that flesh out the functionality of PatientPack.
